Vic: Racing heat dispute due to be settled today
A dispute that stopped the races at Melbourne's Caulfield Racecourse last weekend isdue to be resolved today.
About 60 Caulfield Racecourse workers delayed races for more than an hour when theyfailed to resolve a dispute over heat stress.
But Racing Victoria says the parties have now reached a deal that will go before theAustralian Industrial Relations Commission today for endorsement.
It says under the deal there will be new working procedures on excessively hot daysand in other inclement working conditions.
The workers have been negotiating with Racing Victoria for three years to introducea heat policy, wanting the right to go home when the temperature reaches 35 degrees onnon-race days.
