NSW; Bulldogs took $900,000 out of development - report
The Bulldogs reportedly took almost $900,000 out of the massive Oasis development projectat Liverpool even though funding at that stage had come solely from Liverpool Council.
The Sydney Morning Herald says the council has asked its auditors to examine the $854,751payment on December 17.
The amount was listed as reimbursement of consultant expenses paid by Bulldogs LeagueClub Ltd in regard to Arena.
The payment was authorised by the chairman of the joint venture, GARY MCINTYRE, whois also president of the Canterbury Bulldogs League Club.
The Herald says National Rugby League auditors investigating salary cap breaches alsodiscovered a $200,000 payment out of the Oasis group which appears to be a payment toa Bulldogs player.
Liverpool Council's general manager, BRIAN CARR, has told the paper he was not awareof such a payment.
The $900 million Oasis project at Woodward Park includes a 35,000-seat stadium, a waterpark, a basketball arena, a shopping area and 2500 apartments.
The Bulldogs and the council are developing it jointly with the council so far contributing$15.5 million of its $22.25 million.
The Bulldogs will put in $11 million once the council contribution is used up.
The Bulldogs are facing possible expulsion from the NRL competition for overspendingon the salary cap this season and last year.
