Fed: Georgiou wins Kooyong preselection = 2

Mr Georgiou, a moderate in the party, has come under pressure for challenging the government's
policies in key areas, including immigration and tax, but still retains widespread support.

Mr Frydenberg, a former ministerial staffer, has been tipped in some Liberal circles
as a future leader.

Mr Armstrong, a consultant, had warned that the race for preselection in Kooyong, in
Melbourne's affluent south-east, was a three-cornered one.

Mr Georgiou is understood to have the backing of federal treasurer and Victorian party
powerbroker Peter Costello.
